Episode 64: Neurodiversity in the Workplace

Follow the podcast:

As a CBC journalist, Justin McElroy has stepped out of his comfort zone many times when reporting.

In this episode, Justin talks about neurodiversity in the workplace and in journalism.

He shares details from his life and career and talks about his early times at CBC and how he’s learned strategies over time for disclosing his autism to employers.

“By the time I had moved to CBC, I had figured that part out of it enough. and I also had done enough work in a professional setting and in BC, so that when I went to CBC, the managers there, the co-workers knew. It’s like ‘This is Justin. Here are the things he is good at. Here are the things he is not good at. We hired him for this whole package of things.’ And so there was a lot less misunderstandings.”
