Being a young mother when she moved to BC in the mid-1980s, Sandra learned to be proactive in various areas. Since then, she has participated in activism for Indigenous and social issues as well as special needs children needing extra support.
Over the years she connected with the Downtown Eastside area through enormous volunteering work and was a Support Worker through Union Gospel Mission within the Women & Family Services Department through the Stabilization Program.
