Latest Update
In May 2023, Joël suffered a severe stroke that left him paralyzed on his left side. Since then, he has been focused on recovery and rehabilitation. While he is currently unable to play guitar, Joël has begun exploring new musical directions, including learning the harmonica as part of his creative journey.

In 2025, he returned to performing with a trio called The Holly Hawks, alongside Megan Mansbridge (vocals and guitar) and James Meeger (double bass). The Georgia Fats have also reunited for upcoming festival performances. Joël continues to experiment musically and hopes to tour again as a solo artist in the future.
