Rachael Ransom Featured in The Vancouver Sun for New Series “Adapting”

VAMS artist Rachael Ransom, alongside her father Garner Ransom, were recently featured in The Vancouver Sun for their upcoming television series, Adapting.
Produced by Bread & Better Films Inc. and premiering on AMI+, Adapting follows twin sisters Lennon and Lola and their widowed father as they navigate life, loss, disability, and identity in the fictional coastal town of Halfway Bay, B.C.
According to The Vancouver Sun, Rachael, who has cerebral palsy and scoliosis, and Garner developed the idea for the series together beginning in 2021 while Rachael was studying screenwriting. Their own family experiences helped inspire aspects of the story.
The series also reflects AMI’s commitment to authentic disability representation, with disabled actors portraying disabled characters. AMI also describes the series as: “a long-overdue, unfiltered look at disability.”
“Adapting takes a heartwarming and raw look at disability, adolescence and the minefield of family dynamics—dysfunction and all.
Rachael has been a valued member of the VAMS community for many years. Most recently, she released her debut album, sixty seven ten, in 2024 and performed at the 2024 Strong Sessions concert.
Adapting premieres on AMI+ on September 11, 2026.
